Your favorite artist could be releasing new music in a matter of days! Some artists choose to give their audience a release date, while others, tease their audience and surprise them. The artists that mess with their audiences are the hardest ones to navigate. So many potential release dates are rumored that you don’t know which ones to pay attention to. This is exactly why we are writing this article. So, in our opinion, these are the top 5 rumored up and coming rap albums.
Kanye has been consistently teasing a new album, called Vultures, for months. He has continued to push the release date back for this project, falsely exciting his fans, leaving many feeling frustrated with his actions. Over the summer of 2023, Kanye made his first long awaited appearance in the public since his antisemitic outbursts in late 2022. He performed with Travis scott in Rome after Travis’ new album. Most of his fans stayed loyal to him after his near two-decade domination on the music industry, and he stayed the GOAT in their minds.
Since his reconciliation with the public, he began posting on social media again, and eventually, he teased a new album with Ty Dolla $ign. News reports had been saying he had been working on an album over the summer, but Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign made it official on Instagram, and even stated that there would be listening parties at the end of the year. This was a lie because they were later delayed and eventually canceled.
The original date for the album’s release was December 15th. This date was changed to a listening rave in Saudi Arabia, and the album was pushed back to December 31st. Before that date though, Kanye’s label announced that it would be pushed back to January 12th. On January 11th, it was delayed to January 19th, and on January 16th, the album was delayed to February 9th. This date is when the album is currently scheduled to release, but there is no telling what Kanye will do. There is also a listening party apparently scheduled for February 8th, one day before the announced release date, but we will also see if this is true soon.

Playboi Carti recently announced a third studio album via his Instagram account. On December 7th, he posted the words “I Am Music” on his Instagram story, and also changed his profile picture to the same thing. Many fans have been noticing a change with how Playboi Carti dresses and acts since his last album, Whole Lotta Red in 2020, leaving many fans desiring “Old Carti”. Most people are referring to the era of Carti when he released “Playboi Carti” in 2017 when they say this.
Neither the title nor release date has been announced for his new album, and there hasn’t been much information since he posted those words, but this got many rap fans excited for what is to come.
The Weeknd has had many successful album releases in his past. For example, Dawn FM, and After Hours, were both majorly successful albums for The Weeknd. On January 7, 2024, he published an Instagram post consisting of both of those albums and a slide with a question mark. Both of these albums were hugely successful, leaving many fans desperate for another. This is most likely a sign that a future album is coming soon.

People also often underestimate The Weeknd. He is actually one of the only artists with multiple songs over 2 billion streams. With the question mark being the last slide means that chronologically, the “question mark album” will be dropped in the coming future.
Tyler The Creator has always been consistent with his release dates since 2013. He has always dropped an album every two years with no exceptions. For example, Flower Boy was released in 2017. Following that, IGOR was released in 2019. Then, Call Me If You Get Lost was dropped in 2021. Knowing this, fans were anticipating a brand new album in 2023 due to the fact that his most recent album, Call Me If You Get Lost, was released in 2021. But, no album was ever released or even teased.
This could mean two things for his next album. It could either be released in the coming months due to setbacks when he was producing the album, which would have caused the release date to be set back. Or, it may be released in the year 2025, which would follow his two year release date pattern, with the exception that he skipped an album drop in 2023. Fans are speculating towards the 2025 release date because no information has been personally said from Tyler. But, a 2025 drop date is not confirmed and an album could potentially be released any day.
It has been over seven years since Frank Ocean last released music, leaving many fans disappointed and wanting more, especially after one of his last releases, “Blonde”. Fans have been anticipating an album since then, and their hopes have been rising. Frank Ocean has basically straight up said that an album is coming soon for a while now. Also, many fans noticed an apparent secret message in posters of his if you put two together.

Frank also cleared his instagram account last year, leaving many fans to think that a new era of music is coming. Finally, Frank Ocean has reportedly spent a lot of time in his studio recently as told by a coworker of his. With all of these factors, there isn’t a doubt in my mind that Frank Ocean will be dropping an album sooner than most people think.
These albums have so much potential to add to the music industry. Some of these amazing artists could be releasing their albums within months, weeks, or even a few days. However, there are often empty promises with these artists, so make sure to make the most of when they release music.
