Have you ever wondered what car is best to have in high school? Well this article is going to rank in the top five. There are many aspects of a car that result in it being a “good” car to have in high school. Things like how well it holds up against other highschooler’s cars hitting it, how many people can it fit, how far can it actually go without needing gas, etc. This ranking takes all of these factors into consideration and more. All cars listed are going to be manufactured before 2012. This creates a realistic ranking of cars at a high school.
5)Honda Civic: The Honda Civic is a classic car. The Civic model is Honda’s best ever selling model globally. Honda’s are historically reliable and get decent gas mileage. Drew Thomas, a Grandview Height High School student who currently drives a 2008 Honda Civic says, “although it's fragile, it's up there for smoothness and comfortable seatage.” The build quality of the Civic seems to decline as years pass. But, its interior seats and overall homey feel is unique and is a major plus side of the car.
4)Dodge Dakota R/T: The Dodge Dakota comes in as the only truck on the list. This truck is known for its simplicity, and is known for its iconic red color. Some may say that the truck isn’t the most reliable, but that is due to its packing V8 engine that packs two-hundred fifty horsepower. Carter Brown, a local Grandview Heights High School student and Dakota owner says , “it's iconic, it's unique, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Put that thing on the track and it's winning any day. It’s pretty alright.” Outside of the engine, the truck is still a solid automobile. Its bed can fit all of your high school needs like a backpack and other stuff.
3)Ford Fusion: The Ford Fusion reaches this list for its pure durability. Around high school campuses, this model of car is known for its strength against other car contact. A Grandview Heights High School student and Ford Fusion owner, Sam Bandy, says, “yeah my Fusion has probably been hit like three times by other highschoolers, but like its still chilling. Not even a scratch on the paint to be honest.” The durability is one thing, but the Ford Fusion has unique features like no other car, especially in their late 2010’s models. Ambient lighting is just one feature the car has. With changeable colors too, this Ford model was ahead of its time when it came to ambient lighting in cars.
2)Buick Lucerne: The Buick Lucerne is a classic high school car. These Buicks are known for being passed down from their grandparents so their grandkids can have a solid starter car. Its wood accented interior makes for a pretty scene inside of the car. Like most Buicks, they are known for their comfortable and quiet ride. Solid suspension keeps the ride smooth while the thick doors and frame keeps excess noise out of the driver’s cabin. Its V6 engine is decently reliable and should have a long life with the right maintenance. Most models come with useful teaching like state of the art navigation systems—for its time.
1)Honda CR-V: The Honda CR-V is easily the best high school car ever built. To start, the CR-V is notorious for lasting a lifetime. A Grandview Heights Highschooler, Boston Pearson, reports that his CR-V has over three hundred thousand miles on its engine since its manufacturing in 2011. The older CR-V’s have a whopping one-hundred sixty-six horsepower. Compared to its oddly light weight, the car’s V4 engine ensures a fun ride. The car legally fits five people, plenty of room for your close friends. Stationary and no movement, the car could hypothetically fit ten people, but it’d be a squeeze. The basic version of the early 2010’s models come with a variety of luxuries such as, a double cup holder in the middle seat, gas cap on the driver’s side of the car, speakers that give a good bass, sun roof, and much more.
