Today I am going to talk about the top 5 players going into the 2024 NFL draft. The expected first pick of round 1 is USC QB Caleb Williams. Caleb is currently a junior but plans to go to the NFL next year instead of continuing his college career. In his 2023 season he had a total of 3,633 passing yards and 136 Rushing yards. If he does go number 1 in the draft he will be going off to the Bears who already have a young QB with a lot of hype coming out of college. This could possibly affect his draft position.
The person expected to go second overall in the NFL draft is OSU’s starting receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. He is also the son of former NFL player Marvin Harrison. He ranks 10th overall in NCAA football receiving yards and he does this in one of the best conferences in college football. He finished his 2023 season with a total of 1,211 receiving yards and 14 TDs. Harrison is 6’3” and 190 lbs which is an optimal build for a receiver an runs a 40 time in the 4.3’ which is among some of the fastest in the NFL with much room to grow.
The predicted 3rd pick in the draft is another QB, Drake Maye He ended the season with 3,608 total yards and 24 touchdowns with 9 INT’s which gives him a 79.3 QBR which puts him in 15th place overall. Maye is also very young this being only his sophomore year. He comes in at a whopping 6’4” 230 lbs which is a bit bigger than the average NFL player. If Maye goes 3rd he would become a New England Patriot who is in need of a franchise QB.
The player I expect to go 4th is another QB Jayden Daniels out of LSU. Daniels led his team to a 10-4 season with 3,812 and 40 TD’s and only 4 INT. Daniels comes in at first for overall QBR for the 2023 season and dominates the rest of the draft class. One of his faults is his size coming in at only 210 lbs. Daniels is still one of the best rushing QBs as he led in rushing yards for his team nearly doubling his RB. Jayden Daniels chose to opt out of the 2024 NFL combine witch may decrease his draft stock but he is not risking a negative look on his game.
The next player expected to be selected in the 2024 Draft is Malik Nambers. Malik is a 6 '0'' 200 lbs receiver coming out of LSU. Malik just finished his best season this year with 1,569 receiving yards and an average of 17.6 yards per catch. Nabers has the speed to take the top off the coverage and tracks a deep ball very well. His vision and toughness make him a threat after the catch. He is able to make some great contested catches downfield.
