2026 GHHS JV Baseball Preview

The Grandview Heights baseball season is right around the corner and the JV team is expecting more than last year, with some stars of the team such as Caleb Rodriguez and Roman Dye expecting more time up with the varsity level, there might be more room for some of the younger players to get some work.

Last year the JV Bobcats had a year to forget finishing with a record that didn’t represent what the team could do. This year the coaches will have higher expectations and be looking for some of the players on the team to bring up to the varsity level.

One player that stands out is 1st baseman Duncan Peters. Duncan is a massive guy that brings a ton of power and energy to the plate, unfortunately for Duncan the first base position has been locked down by Senior Kinny Wilson for the Varsity squad, but Duncan's bat could be used in useful situations if needed in the future. For now though Duncan is a key part to the JV offense and should be able to help them to a few wins this season.

Another player that is key to the JV team is Max Robb. Max brings energy and life to the team, with lots of potential out in the field and with his bat. Max claims he plays all positions leading so if anyone goes down Max will be right there to fill in if he is needed. The glue guy is what Max is considered for this time, no he doesn't hit the furthest, throw the fastest or steal every base at will, but he does come in and give this group belief in anything and never comes up short.

Finally, a player mentioned before, Caleb Rodriguez. The Junior is by far the most valuable player for this squad, with massive amounts of power at the plate, but also the ace of the loaded pitching roster for the Cats. Rodriguez is in for a big season this year that could move him up to the varsity level if he continues to show out like he has in the previous seasons. Caleb also has a stellar connection to catcher, Nolan Drum. These two pals have played together ever since those middle school days and are known for the amazing work they put in when C-Rod is on the mound and Drum is behind the dish.

There are so many other players for this team that could have a massive impact on them this season, with a varsity squad that is basically locked and loaded, the JV players are gonna play with something to prove this season and hopefully see some well deserved action at the Varsity level. Many Varsity players believe that this JV team could have the most potential out of any of them in recent years. Some even go to the extent and say they might become some of the best baseball players Grandview has ever seen when it is all said and done.
