Jon Gruden was well known as the Head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders. He resigned around 3 weeks ago, after homophobic and misogynistic comments were revealed from his emails.
This happened on October 11th, 2021. It took place after the Sunday Night football game on the news. Jon Gruden’s emails started coming out from 2010 through 2018. The messages were found to former Washington Football Team president Bruce Allen. He also was using comments towards NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and other NFL owners, coaches, and reporters.
Gruden has been coaching for 15 seasons in the NFL. He first served as the head coach for Oakland from 1998-2001. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, which led him to winning their first super bowl that same year. He was the youngest coach to win the super bowl at the age of 39. He served as the head coach there till 2008. After his coaching there he became an analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast from 2009-2017. He then returned back to the raiders in 2018 as their head coach.
The reason this has been such a big problem in our society is because these things aren’t allowed to be said. Comments like these should not be tolerated and are seen as disrespect to the people that he said these things too.
As a representative for such a large and diverse organization, he should really have thought twice on what he said. Making these comments while leading a team of diverse groups of people is truly disrespectful.
