6 Christmas Movies You Might Want to Watch This Year

How The Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss

While the movie's plot has stayed the same it has still changed a lot. From the original cartoon version to Jim Carrey to the new one with Benedict Cumberbatch. The original one came out in 1966 and only runs for 26 minutes. It is a simple and classic telling of Dr. Seuss’ Christmas story. Then the next movie is the 2000 movie The Grinch starring Jim Carrey. I think this movie has more adult jokes. This movie also does run for a longer time so it is more like a movie. The new cartoon movie that came out in 2018, to me is also very different. Benedict Cumberbatch did the voice of the Grinch in the movie. I think this one is going back to more of a kids movie.

The Princess Switch

I am going to be straight forward, this is a very cheesy movie. Hate to say but the acting is not the best. Although if you want a funny movie to watch this movie is the one for you. They even made a trilogy out of it. The first “The Princess Switch” came out in 2018. One week before Christmas, a duchess switches places with an ordinary woman from Chicago, who looks exactly like her, and they each fall in love with each other's beaus. The second movie is called “The Princess Switch: Switched Again” which came out in 2020. They bring in a third look alike, and the new one tries to foil their plans. The third one is called “The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star”. In this one they have it impersonate the newest look-a-like and help her in getting a stolen good back.

Home Alone

This is a classic, one of the most re-watched Christmas movies every year. The main character, played by young Macaulay Culkin, was stranded at home during Christmas when his family accidentally forgot him. He has to deal with being home alone, no pun intended. One of the biggest arguments over this movie is whether the original Home Alone or Home Alone New York is better.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Okay I love this movie because Tim Burton is so aesthetically pleasing with all of his works. This could definitely be qualified as a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie so it's the best of both worlds in my opinion. I think everyone has seen this movie and a lot of people would consider this to be a classic whether you consider it a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie. No matter what time of the year you’re watching this movie, you’re bound to love it!

Christmas with the Kranks

This has to be my favorite Christmas movie. It’s so funny and the whole plot is so intriguing. Finally alone for the holidays, Luther (Tim Allen) and Nora Krank (Jamie Lee Curtis) plan to change the Christmas traditions and take a cruise in the Caribbean instead. Their Christmas-obsessed neighbors are determined to win the annual "best decorated street" competition, and the Kranks find themselves social outcasts because of their lack of Christmas spirit. Whenever Christmas time rolls around my family boycotts this movie because they hate it. I think otherwise.

Edward Scissorhands

A lot of people wouldn’t really consider this a Christmas movie, but I feel like it’s kind of like the nightmare before Christmas where it could qualify as both Halloween and Christmas. The end of the movie takes place during Christmas time and a lot of important stuff happens during that era of the movie, and Christmas is very significant to the plot in my opinion. I love the vibes of Tim Burton's movies and this movie has very Christmas vibes. Actually I was on like HBO max or something and this was in the Christmas movie section/the holiday section so I just think that does confirm it just a little bit. To wrap things up, these are all Christmas movies to watch this year. Whether you watch it for a laugh, like the movies The Princess Switch, and Christmas with the Kranks; or if you watch it because it is a classic. Like the movies Home Alone, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Have a happy holiday season.
