What are the Top 3 albums of 2023? This is a tough question to answer because music is completely subjective and everybody has different opinions, but I have thought of my personal top 3 that you can see below.

3. Lets Start Here. by Lil Yachty

Lil Yachty was inspired by the Band Pink Floyd to make this album where he changed his style from trap to soul. The Album cover is an AI-generated image of a Music Boardroom laughing hysterically which is creepy and scary. This Album shows Lil Yachty's growth as an Artist. And shows lots of development in skill and talent from his days on SoundCloud. He has proven that he can be the master of multiple genres.

2. A Great Chaos by Ken Carson

Ken Carson’s newest studio album A Great Chaos released by Opium Records on October 13, 2023. The Album has guest appearances like Lil Uzi Vert and Destroy Lonely, and it shaped the wave of the Atlanta rap scene from its heavy-hitting bass to its rhythmic beats. The lyrics are powerful and expressive, and Ken Carson shows his personality and greatly increases his vocal skill

Travis Scotts album lets start here (Photo: Printerval).

1. Utopia by Travis Scott

Travis Scott made us wait 5 years for another Album after his previous Album Astroworld, and he delivered. Almost every track had features like Playboi Carti, Kid Cudi, Westside Gunn, and many others. ‘’The album gets off to an incredible start, with the springy and almost arabesque beat that comes with the opening track “HYAENA”. And while there was a very small portion of tracks that I felt to be repetitive or not really go anywhere, the vast majority of this album is brilliant when it comes to the music itself.’’-Medium The Album Utopia Has over one Billion streams on Spotify. ‘’Travis Scott's Utopia explores themes of temptation, self prioritization, and the artist's fear of being used for entertainment.’’-Eghitify

Websites like The Rolling Stones or Pitchfork have different opinions on their top 3. The Rolling Stones Top 100 Albums of 2023 put Lil Yachty's Lets Start Here at number 4 while Utopia by Travis Scott and A Great Chaos by Ken Karson were left off the list. The Rolling Stones top 3 was Data by Tainy at number 3, The Record by BoyGenius at number 2, and SOS by SZA at number 1. Pitchfork's top 3 albums didn't have any of the top 3 albums I chose for my top 3. They instead chose Maps by Billy Woods and Kenny Segal at 3, Desire, I Want to turn into you by Caroline Polachek, and again SOS by SZA at number 1.

GHHS students offered opinions on their top 3 albums of 2023 and they said many different things. Finn Mckelvy said "For All The Dogs by Drake at number 3, Heroes And Villains by Metro Boomin, and Utopia by Travis Scott at number 1". Jeremy Wurster was also interview where he said "For All The Dogs by Drake at 3 The First Time by the Kid Laroi and The Estate Sale by Tyler The Creator".
