Coming in at number one is, Frenchies. Most say they are good for family atmospheres and that they’re loving, playful and cute. These dogs only need up to one hour of exercise per day, but are also a brachycephalic breed, meaning their faces are flat, and they can have trouble breathing. Frenchies shed moderately but are typically considered low-shedders, which comes in hand for those with allergies, and they also aren’t very loud, and tend to not bark very much, depending on the dog (Pixabay).
In second place is the Labrador retriever, also called the “perfect family dog”. These dogs are perfect for almost all living situations, and they are very playful, energetic and loyal dogs. Easy to train, these intelligent dogs with boundless energy are often eager to please their owners, leaving them more well behaved. Labrador retrievers need more than two hours of exercise per day along with mental stimulation such as puzzle feeders, toys, training, and sports. Labs have a thick double coat so they are prone to shedding, but this can be managed with a good brushing routine (Flickr).
Sitting at third place comes Golden retrievers. Similar to labrador retrievers, Goldens are also amazing for families. These dogs are known for their gentle and friendly, affectionate, and loving demeanor. This breed also needs more than two hours per day of exercise. They love to play fetch and swim. They also need mental stimulation and do well with training just like labradors. Goldens do have a longer and thicker coat than labradors, making them high shedders, also being able to be managed with a brushing schedule (ESA).
At number four on our list, while you commonly see German shepherds as great police and search and rescue dogs, they also make for loving house pets. German shepherds have a lot of energy and have a “protective side”. These dogs are highly intelligent and require lots of mental stimulation. Researchers say with these smarter breeds, the more bored they get, the more mischievous they become. Good examples for German Shepherds would be training, as they respond well to commands, and are keen on having various “jobs”, as well as sports, chew toys or nose work games. German shepherds also respond well to commands, and are keen on having various “jobs” (Pixabay).
And last but not least, Poodles. All types of poodles are known for being smart, social, and having a beautiful coat. As one of the most intelligent dog breeds, they need lots of exercise and brain games to stay entertained. Poodles come in a standard, miniature, and toy size. Poodles are playful, sweet and a good family dog as they are good with other pets, strangers and children. Their coats need lots of care. Rather than shedding, their hair tends to get matted. To maintain a dog coat you need to brush everyday and have normal grooming visits (Flickr).
