Agave and Rye Mexican Kitchen to Fill Grandview Avenue Vacancy

Most residents know that in March of 2020, Spagio became one of many businesses defeated by the COVID-19 pandemic. After almost 40 years of service, the citizens of Grandview Heights had to say goodbye to one of our most loved Italian restaurants. The community was not only sad to see Spagio go, but also curious to see what would come next. Would more Italian food attempt to take its place, or would Grandview see something different?

Shortly after Spagio’s closure was announced, something new was introduced: Agave and Rye, a Mexican kitchen, was to take the former Italian restaurant’s place. Opening their 10th location, their menu features a variety of elevated tacos and many tequila options.

The restaurant’s other locations hold excellent reviews, with compliments on the atmosphere, service, food, and more. One reviewer even said:

“You would think there is no way their tacos are that good. How could they be? But then you order them and they are even better than you imagined. The quality of ingredients they use is frankly impressive. The staff was courteous and helpful. Can't wait to go back.”

On the other hand, some in the community hold other opinions of the new restaurant. Since Grandview already has Local Cantina, Chipotle, Qdoba, Taco Bell, 2 Brothers Tacos, and recently opened Habaneros, others think that the area needs to see something else.

“We have enough taco restaurants,” an anonymous Grandview citizen says. “I suppose I was just hoping to see something different.”

Fortunately, there is one piece of information that many do not know yet: this is not just your typical Mexican restaurant. Their menu consists of options that can not be seen in ANY restaurant in Grandview. Agave and Rye puts quite an interesting spin on their menu, which features a truffle lobster taco, a peppercorn kangaroo taco, and even a lo mein bowl. You can’t get much more unique than that.

According to ThisWeek News, the restaurant planned to open around September of this year. Since September came and went, we expect further news regarding their opening very soon.

So, what are your thoughts on Agave and Rye? Are you also looking forward to tasting some never-seen-before food? Or were you, like some others, disappointed when you heard another taco restaurant was opening?
