This is 2slimey, the musical genius, posing for a photo.
2slimey jumps out from behind the curtain of his completely sold out LA show and the crowd cheers for him. Fans are jumping up and down and one of them screams “You made it!” He takes a step back slowly, looks at the crowd, and realizes he made it. He walked out to the edge of the stage and looked into the eyes of his fans, and he broke out in tears of happiness. He later found out that he made the rolling loud setlist and will be performing alongside NBA Youngboy, Chief Keef, Don Toliver, and many other great artists, but who is this guy and where did he come from?
2slimey was born in Midwest City, Oklahoma 25 minutes outside Oklahoma City. He started off his rap career in 2010 with the name GGS which had a completely different style to the rage rap he does now, and it wasn’t until 2019 where he received inspiration from Yeat and Playboi Carti when he finally found his infamous music style.
He dropped his debut album High Anxiety and people were blown away by it. His crazy 808s and endless noise encapsulated its listeners. In his performances he encourages audiences to get loud and crazy, and tells them to create moshpits and stagedive. The famous producer and streamer Plaqueboymax caught wind of him when somebody in his Twitch chat told him to give 2 Slimey a listen. He loved what he heard and understood his potential. He invited him to the booth and onto the stream. He infamously switched out Plaqueboymax’s $4000 microphone with his very own $120 dollar one. His most recent project was when he appeared on the 2026 underground Cypher where he performed with other artists: Captain Swag, Hollowtiphero, Lade, RainingLol, Talinwya, Ealuhri, Ivvys, Sixbill, and Matt Proxy.
The future of 2slimey looks bright. Many people now call him a joke or a meme rapper, but that’s how many other rappers get their careers started and then they make it big. Another rapper whose name is Nettspend got popular as a joke and then people started taking him seriously after he honed his musical skills and became an international phenomenon.
Nettspend, also known as Gunner Shepardson was born in Richmond, Virginia in 2007. He started making music in the 5th grade with BandLab on his phone. His style is similar to Playboi Carti and Ken Carson. Along with rap he is also known as a fashion icon where he does runway walks for brands like Gucci and Miu Miu, and he also does ads for Vans.
Nettspend is part of a newer wave of underground artists who built their names mostly online before breaking into wider recognition. He experiments with sounds that mix elements of trap, rage, and internet-inspired production. Like many artists in his generation, he didn’t rely on traditional record labels at first. Instead, he used platforms like SoundCloud and other social media platforms to share his music and connect directly with his many loyal listeners.
What makes Nettspend stand out is his ability to create songs that feel raw and unfiltered. His style isn’t overly polished, which actually works in his favor because it feels more authentic to fans. A lot of his early tracks gained attention for their energetic beats and catchy flows, helping him slowly build a loyal following.
As his audience grew, so did the attention from producers and other artists in the underground scene. His career really started to pick up once a few of his songs began circulating more widely online, especially through Tik Tok, Twitter, and Instagram reposts. That kind of exposure is huge for newer artists today, and Nettspend took advantage of it by consistently releasing new music and staying active. He represents how the music industry is changing, where artists don’t necessarily need major label backing to gain traction.
Even though he’s still early in his career, Nettspend shows potential to keep growing. His music connects with younger audiences who relate to his sound and the way he presents himself. He is on tour right now doing shows in his hometown and even the Columbus area. If he continues developing his style and reaching more listeners, he could become a much bigger name in the future.
