First overall pick, Cam Ward, holding his new jersey for this season.
As some of you may know, the NFL Draft happened recently. This year had a great draft class with popular athletes like Travis Hunter, WR/CB from the Colorado Buffaloes, Ashton Jeanty, RB from Boise State, and Shedeur Sanders, QB from the Colorado Buffaloes. The draft took place from April 24th to the 26th at Lambeau Field in Wisconsin. Round one started off at 8:00 pm on the 24th and the final rounds were held at 12:00 pm on the 26th.
The 2025 NFL Draft kicked off with Cam Ward being the first overall pick for the Tennessee Titans. Ward was the quarterback at Miami University, throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, with only seven interceptions. Following Cam Ward, the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft was Travis Hunter to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hunter had 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns this season with the Colorado Buffaloes. The third pick in this year's draft was Abdul Carter to the New York Giants. This young edge rusher from Penn State started all 16 games and finished with 68 tackles (43 solo), 23.5 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and four pass breakups.
Ohio State had a significant amount of players in the draft this year as well. OSU had a total of 14 players drafted this year with four going in the first round. Emeka Egbuka was picked 19th by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was a wide receiver for OSU with 81 receptions for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns. Other Ohio State players drafted in the first round were Guard Donovan Jackson, Defensive Tackle Tyleik Williams, and Offensive Tackle Josh Simmons. OSU became the first school to have a wide receiver drafted in the first round in four consecutive drafts.

Also from the Buckeyes, Junior running back Quinshon Judkins was drafted to the Cleveland Browns. The 6’0”, 220 lb running back came from Ole Miss and showed his adaptability to a new offense during his junior year when he transferred to OSU and became a star at our home-town school. Our other RB, TreVeyon Henderson, was drafted in the second round to the New England Patriots. Standing at 5’10” and weighing 200 lbs, his 1,016 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in his senior season pushed his career numbers to 3,761 rushing yards and 48 total touchdowns.
It’s safe to say that the 2025 NFL Draft was filled with talent, and an amazing draft class overall. The NFL season will come sooner than we know it, with games expecting to start in September of this year. I’m excited to see how this year’s rookies perform in the league, and I hope that all of the rookie Ohio State players succeed. To recap the article, the first overall pick was Cam Ward, followed by Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter. At the fourth spot, we have offensive tackle from LSU, Will Campbell, to the Patriots. Coming in at the fifth overall pick, Mason Graham, the defensive tackle from Michigan, will go to the Cleveland Browns.
